3/26/2018

On April 2, Colfax and Moreno Valley will begin accepting cannabis permit applications. Plus: updates from Riverside and the Emergency CDPH regulations that prove sharing really is caring.

  • Colfax, California will begin accepting applications for retail cannabis business permits on April 2, 2018. The city may issue up to two medicinal permits and two adult use permits. Click here for the full application. Colfax has also provided a full application checklist to ensure you do not submit incomplete applications. Applications will close on June 4, 2018.
  • Moreno Valley, CA will begin accepting applications to operate commercial cannabis businesses on April 2, 2018. Applications are only available through PlanetBids and this link. Any other form of application will not be accepted. Applications will close at 4:00 PM on May 11, 2018.
    • Moreno Valley is also proposing companion land use ordinance that will allow up to eight dispensaries, eight cultivation facilities, five manufacturing plants, two testing facilities, two distribution centers and two cannabis micro-businesses. We are confirming these numbers with Moreno Valley and will update you as soon as we receive a confirmation.
  • In Riverside, California, a vote in mid-March to move forward with cannabis-friendly ordinances. These ordinances would allow for commercial cannabis businesses in Riverside. Stay tuned for further updates as the details of the ordinances are announced.
  • Last week, the California Department of Public Health (Manufactured Cannabis Safety Branch) released proposed emergency regulations for shared-use facilities. These emergency regulations are expected to be approved on April 13, 2018. If approved, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) will start accepting:
    • Temporary Shared-Use Facility Registrations
    • Temporary License Applications (Type S)

A cannabis manufacturer with a Type 6, 7 or N license would need to register their facility as a “shared-use facility”. If this facility is approved, the manufacturer that wants to use the space needs to apply for a Type S license. This brings about new and exciting opportunities as larger manufacturers could make use of empty space and provide them to smaller manufacturers that don’t want to invest in their own independent locations.  Should everything be approved on April 13, 2018 – all applications will be available directly on the CDPH website.

We will continue to update you on the status of the above cities, as well as other open cannabis applications. We have helped dozens of cannabis businesses fast-track their applications and enter the cannabis market successfully. Get in touch with our experts to start your business today.
