Picture
This week in cannabis updates: here’s what you need to know if you are applying or thinking about applying for licenses in Culver City, Cotati, Adelanto or Moreno Valley. There are also new deadlines for Thousand Oaks and Merced that you’ll want to pay attention to! Plus: what do you think about the new proposed legislation allowing marijuana use for pets?

  • Culver City, California is expected to release their applications for cannabis business permits this month. Applications for storefront retail businesses (read: dispensaries) are now expected to be released sometime during the second quarter of 2018. Culver City is expected to release licenses in the following quantities:
    • 3 Storefront retail licenses
    • 5 Delivery-only retail licenses
    • 6 manufacturing licenses
    • 6 distribution licenses
    • 3 cultivation licenses
    • 4 testing laboratory licenses

  • Cotati, California is requesting applications for permits to operate commercial cannabis facilities.  Up to 14 permits of varying license types will be issued. Applications are due March 26, 2018 at 5:00pm. Click through at the link for the detailed RFP application process.
  • Adelanto, California enacted an ordinance that requires separate permits for cannabis distribution and transportation. Click through to see how this may effect your cannabis business.
  • Moreno Valley, California adopted Resolution No. 2018-09, which would recommend a land use ordinance permitting medical and adult-use commercial cannabis activities. The ordinance would allow retailers, testing facilities, cultivation facilities, distribution facilities, microbusinesses, and manufacturing facilities. The maximum cannabis businesses allowed is 26 as distributed under the following categories:
    • 10 retailers
    • 2 testing businesses
    • 5 cultivation businesses
    • 5 manufacturing businesses
    • 2 microbusinesses
    • 2 distribution facilities
  • DON’T FORGET – the deadline for your Thousand Oaks cannabis business application is March 8 at 4PM PST.
  • DON’T FORGET – Merced begins accepting commercial cannabis business permits Monday, March 5!
  • Many citizens of California, including assembly member Ash Kalra (D-San Jose), believe our pets should have equal opportunity for medical marijuana. A bill was recently proposed to allow veterinarians to talk about medical marijuana as an option for our pets.  What do you think? Do you think our pets should be able to benefit for California’s medical marijuana laws?

As always, California Cannabis CPA is here to help you through the arduous (and sometimes confusing) processes of obtaining a cannabis license. Want to chat about how we can make that happen? Send us a message. We look forward to hearing from you.
